THE BOY WHO DARED TO ROCK   - Paul Lichter / Biography / Published 1977

Found this book in a dutch bookstore for about 8 dollars, and I always thought and still think this is a fine book. It holds lots of photographs, mostly black & white, was actually written before Elvis died (a final chapter of Elvis' death was according to Paul Lichter added after he heard the sad news), holds a biography, a 'standing room only' chapter, in which Paul describes the tour-schedules up till december 31, 1975 of Elvis followed by a list of all appearances. Than he continues with a so called recording-sessions chapter, which is nothing more than a song list of released albums (so we find recordings made in 1956 listed under 1976), after which he brings this information another time, but this time with photo's of the album- and single covers. Interesting is the fact he also included many rare releases and  bootlegs. He claims to have seen over 800 live performances by Elvis, and met him severall times, calling him a good friend. Well, I won't judge him but I have my doubts. But this is a fine book anyway.
