E L V I S - T H E F I N A L Y E A R S - Jerry Hopkins - Biography - Published 1980 | ||||||||||||||
The book critisized by many fans because of the lack of resource information, but the best reference this book ever had was the publication of Peter Guralnick's Careless Love - the unmaking of Elvis Presley, which tells the exact same story (although a litle more detailled). The cover (from this print, which is the UK one) contains a very unflattering picture of Elvis, probably february, 1977. The book starts somewhere in 1970 right up to 1977. It is easy to read and gives detailled information about the man and his music. Jerry Hopkins avoids all the gossip, keeping focussed on the main thing without getting to negative. Offcourse he mentions the drug-problems and Elvis mental state of mind, but it never gets annoying. This book ain't as bas as people use to say. As a biography it belongs to my personal favourites.
