Tired of Hollywood and the
movie-business and inspired by the NBC TV special,
Elvis returned to
perform live again in 1969. The venue chosen for this triumphant
comeback
was the newly build International Hotel.
An average showroom these days in
Las Vegas had a capacity of app. 600 seats
which hardly sold out. The
Showroom of the International seated 2000 spectators
and the Elvis Presley Show
managed to play for standing room only audiences,
all the way through the
engagement, which were 2 shows a day for a month long.
With his songs
topping the charts again and being the most succesfull performer
of all
times in Vegas, Elvis became a mainstream artist again,
influencing the
70's almost as strong as influencing the 50's over a decade ago.

Note: The
dialoque before Hound Dog on the ‘Elvis In Person’ CD is completely
different from the dialoque before the song on the CDR With the
complete
–audience recorded- show. Did BMG take the dialoque from another show (not
fit for release because of the rough language ?) .
The
dialoque between Hound Dog and the following song, I Can’t Stop Loving
You, is also completely different (removed also ?) but the
songs are the same again and match. Only thing different is the screaming
lady almost at the end of the song. On the In Person album the
scream is repeated a couple of times before Elvis ends the songs, on the
audience recording there’s a scream also but only once !
The
dialoque before My Babe is definately coming from another show, as it can
be heard before a version of ‘Baby What You Want Me To
Do’ on one of RCA’s releases. On the audience tape, Elvis goes
straight into My Babe after he ended I Can’t Stop Loving You !
The
dialoque between ‘My Babe’ and ‘Mystery Train/Tiger Man’ has been
edited also, again because of the rough language probably
